SUMMARY:Member Webinar: Conducting Essential Business and Crossing the Border during COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is brought to you by the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation in partnership with Automate Canada\, the Canadian Association of Mold Makers\, the Canadian Tooling and Machining Association and the Consulate General of Canada – Detroit.\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nCross-border supply chains are vital to ensure the continued flow of goods between Canada and the USA. Manufacturing companies located in the Windsor-Essex Region and Detroit/Southeastern Michigan and beyond rely on a strong and integrated supply chain that transcends the US-Canada border. \nThe impact of COVID-19 has been quite disruptive to our local and regional economies. While the decision to close the border to non-essential travel has been well-received and understood\, with economies opening up on both sides of the border\, there are increasing questions by manufacturing companies on how best to facilitate cross-border commercial trade. \nIf you are a manufacturing company that conducts cross-border business you will not want to miss this webinar. CBSA Chiefs Bonnie Lucier and Eric Beck will offer guidance on what is needed by American Business Travelers to enter Canada and what Canadian Business Travelers can expect when they return to Canada so that essential business can be conducted in a safe manner. To that end\, Chief Lucier and Beck will help clarify the difference between self-monitoring versus self-isolation. \nPlease join us for this webinar\, moderated by Automate Canada\, CAMM\, and CTMA as Chiefs Beck and Lucier provide guidance and offer tips on what you need to know to cross the border for essential business. \nNote: Should you wish to pre-submit any questions\, please use the registration form to do so and they will be forwarded to CBSA officials.

SUMMARY:Automate to Innovate: Panel Discussion with Manufacturing Automation Mag.
DESCRIPTION:The global manufacturing industry has long touted the benefits of Industry 4.0 technologies – improved productivity and product quality\, reduced operating costs\, competitive advantage. For many Canadian manufacturers\, the list of reasons not to automate was long\, topped by perceived expense and insufficient testing at scale. \nBut the COVID-19 pandemic is necessitating rapid change. \nDuring the height of the lockdowns\, manufacturers were forced to close\, reduce operations or furlough workers. Consumer demand shifted unpredictably and supply chains\, particularly those concentrated in gravely affected regions\, suffered bottlenecking so great shelves were left empty for weeks. \nOperations have now mostly reopened\, and manufacturers have had to make accommodations. Production requirements remain the same but have been hampered by staffing challenges and increased safety measures. \nTo help manufacturers prepare for a potential second wave of the coronavirus and long-term competitiveness\, Manufacturing AUTOMATION and Canadian Plastics have partnered to bring industry experts together in a FREE virtual summit focused on how automation will prove integral to our “new normal\,” and on how to implement it. \n  \n  \nModerator: Kristina Urquhart\nPanelists:\nBernadeen McLeod\, President & Founder\, Mentor Works\nBlair de Verteuil\, Vice-President Operations\, Life Sciences\, ATS Automation\nDavid Jeffrey\, Regional Vice-President\, Central Canada\, Salesforce\nShelley Fellows\, Chair\, Automate Canada \n\nOur presenter will be joined by industry experts to discuss how manufacturers can enable Industry 4.0 technologies in a roundtable and audience Q&A led by Kristina Urquhart\, editor of Manufacturing AUTOMATION.
